Ask your MP to support the amendment to the Health and Care Bill for better long term workforce planning
Please email your MP to ask them to support our campaign. This process takes only a few minutes, and we know that MPs often find emails from people living in their constituency very influential.
The RCPsych is supporting an amendment to the Health and Care Bill that would make it a legal duty for the Government to publish assessments of how many health and social care staff are needed to keep pace with projected demand. We consider that this will help hold the Government to account for training enough doctors and nurses to provide vital care for people across the country.
While the legislation only directly affects England, all MPs will have a chance to vote on it. If the amendment is passed, it will set a positive precedent for similar initiatives underway across the four nations of the UK.
Please join us in emailing your MP to ask them to support this amendment. This is a once in a decade opportunity to drive progress on long-standing workforce challenges and help guarantee that NHS England has the staff it needs to secure the best outcomes for people with mental illness.
